10/10/05 - Ella is 4 months old today!

Originally posted on October 10, 2005.

My baby girl is 4 months old today and again, it's really scary how fast time is flying by. She's getting so big...or I guess I should say 'tall'. Her personality is definitely showing now and she loves talking to mommy and daddy. I wish all the pictures we took captured her personality better. She smiles and giggles a lot, but once we get the camera or video camera out she's so mesmerized that she stops everythings she's doing to stare at the camera. She's rolled over a couple times, but it's not that big a deal for her just yet. It's obvious that she could do it whenever she wanted, but she's usually just content rolling from side to side to look at herself in the mirror or grab one of her toys. She has this new thing where she screams when she's really happy, the only thing is that it comes out of nowhere! So, it could cause a heart attack or two if you're not prepared. I'm waiting for it to happen in church. One thing I'm really excited about is that she's almost sitting up on her own. I know it seems pretty early for that, but when she's sitting on our laps or if we have her propped up on the couch, she can balance herself so well and it seems every week she's balancing a little longer than the previous week. She's really into gnawing on our hands and fingers (besides her own!) and loves to pull her shirt, bib, or blanket up into her mouth as well. She has a favorite stuffed animal, too. He's a tan puppy named Calhoun and she's already got his fur matted from snuggling with him and sucking on him. Oh, another thing she loves to do is play with her feet. If she's on her back, she'll pull them up to her, or if she's sitting on my lap, she'll bend over for them. She's also starting to get into 'peek-a-boo', but only if she's really in the mood for it. Stephen had her going the other day and she was giggling like crazy, while I tried it earlier and she just looked at me like I was on crack.
Tomorrow is her 4 month check-up and unfortunately she has to get FOUR shots. I hope she does as well as last time and doesn't get a fever afterwards. We'll probably give her some infant tylenol about an hour beforehand. I know she'll freak out when she actually gets the shots, but she calms down pretty quickly. I'll update ya'll on her stats and how she fairs.
