I woke up this morning very excited. I finally had gotten everything I needed to get Ella started in her next phase of life...eating solids. So, after searching Target for baby spoons that are rubberized on the ends, I actually found ones that turn white if the food is too hot. I thought that was pretty neat and took some annoying work out of my lazy hands. Anyway, we don't have the high chair put together yet and I didn't think that was too big a deal since Ella can't completely sit up on her own anyway. So, I held Ella in my lap with her bib on of course, and start feeding her little bites. Right away she grabbed for the spoon just to hold it which made it difficult to get it to her mouth. I have heard that if the baby does this to give them another spoon to hold on to while you're feeding them. So, I'll try that next time. Anyway, the first bite went down pretty easy. And she started opening her mouth up for it each time I put the spoon close to her mouth. But, she was over it pretty soon. I think she was getting frustrated with the whole process even though I thought she was doing really well. By the fourth or fifth time, she started pushing the food out of her mouth and I figured she was just ready for some formula. So, she promptly drank up 6 oz. of formula to fill her up!
So, tomorrow morning will be another adventure and hopefully we'll get the high chair put together tomorrow as well. I think it will be easier and it might even make Ella sit up on her own even quicker in that position. Overall, nothing too difficult about the first feeding of rice cereal, but it was a bit messier than formula!
